Now that I am returned to England from Germany allow me to express those thanks to you which I am afraid, I almost wholy omitted during my stay at Leipzig – but I always was a bad hand at thanking and am afraid I shall acquit myself very badly, although I feel scarcely how much I am indebted to you for your great kindness to me.
My Parents and all my friends seem to think that my improvement is very considerable, and I am sure I have to thank you for a very great share of it; and hope now to apply by diligent practice those principles of Piano Forte playing which I learned in so delightful a manner from you.
Our journey was very agreable that is so agreable as its quickness would allow. – We had only a moment to make the acquaintance of your Mother-in-law but she received us most kindly and was very happy to hear the good news we were able to give her of Leipzig. I hope that you will recover from your winter fatigues by taking some long journey this summer The weather here is most delightful now. Fannys wedding went off exceedingly well, and she is now as happy as the day is long and making as many jokes as ever.
I suppose all my Leipzig friends, Eckert Kufferath Horath are now dispensed, but I hope some day to hear of them again. I often wish David and myself could go to Golis to play Billiards David is quite well, but not in the very best spirits.
Excuse this hasty note, but I hope soon, if you will allow it, to give you a longer account of my prospects here, and with very best Compliments to Madame Mendelssohn remain Dear Sir yrs truly obliged
