            Dresden, Febry 26. My dear Sir,
That you may not suppose I would commit such a solecism as leaving Germany without saying my adieux to you, I write a line to say where I am – I left Leipzig three weeks ago, at the same time that my friend Novelli returned to Cambridge – several reason induced me to go to Dresden, the chief of which were that I could not kept my rooms at the Bavière, I know of no others took that, also that I was rather annoyed by certain English resident in Leipzig whom I did not much like – I am very much pleased with Dresden, I only miss the Gewandhaus which has no rival here – I am anxious to know whether Beethoven’s Mess in D. has been performed yet in Leipzig? & when Bach’s Passione will be done, as I wd. not lose that on any accounts. And when is your new English Psalm tried? Do you remember promising me a letter of introduction to Schneider here! If you could be so kind as to send me a line addressed to him I shd. feel much indebted. I shd. also like to know Reissiger, but am almost ashamed to ask for the same thing in his case – I am writing in haste, as a young German lady who has been staying here a few days is just returning to Leipzig & is kind enough to be the bearer of this – I shall stay here some time now, the weather being still so inclement. Have you any tidings of Bennett? Pray forgive this several – hoping to hear good tidings of your health. I remain
