            Cassel Monday Evening Dec. 21. 1840. My dear Sir
Having fixed the day for my departure from here I write according to promise, to acquaint you of the day I shall probably be in Leipzig
I leave Cassel next Monday morning for Eisenach and as I wish to stay a few hours if possible in Weimar to see a friend of mine there I shall be with you some time on Thursday the 31st most probably before noon, as I understand The Eilwagen leaves Weimar every Evening.
You have no doubt long since received my letter written the beginning of October; and I need apologize for having so long delayed acquainting you of my plans but I have only yesterday finally settled them.
Allow me once more to express the delight I feel at the appreciating pleasure I shall so soon have.
I hope still to find David in Leipzig, for my Mother wrote me word his plans were somewhat uncertain.
Hauptmann desires his very best compliments to you, as also does Madame de Malsburg.
I hope this letter will not find you quite frozen, but till to day the weather has been so very cold, and you know that in London we are not much afflicted with frosts.
From Home I have the best news, and Sophy writes very cheerfully from Hamburg, which residence she will soon exchange for the quiet, dead Cassel where is coming to spend a month with Frau von Malsburg –
