I have been absent from London, in the mean time your letter arrived with the corrections which I have carefully had made in the MS of the P. F arrangement, as far as the Vocal parts go but we still want the proper P. F accompaniment to Bars 51 to 57. of the “con moto come 1mo” and also for the new 8 Bars. instead of Bars 50. 51. 52. & 53 of Allo maestoso 4/4 e major. – I have ordered the piece to be entered on the 2nd December. the day appointed by Messes Breitkopf & Haertel –. I am rejoiced to find you had so pleasant a journey home as I hope it will be an inducement for you to visit us again
The Halifax Choral Society are most anxious that the 114! Psalm should be dedicated to them – and I have ventured to put their name on the Title of the English Edition as they are very great admirers of yours and the first to perform your St Paul after it was done at Liverpool. I hope that this will meet your approbation and that you will have the same put upon the foreign copies Edition – You may perhaps remember a tall yorkshire man who was much with Mr Gauntlett at Birming ham of the name of Samuel Smith – he is the Secy of the society and takes much interest in its well fare. – He was also with Gauntlett when in Germany.
I hope you are getting on with the Lobgesang as we have many enquiries as to when it will appear. –
We received 150 copies of No 1 Lieder ohne worte from Mr Moscheles 1832 Augt 2nd and those only. –
