Die Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Correspondence Online-Ausgabe FMB-C ediert die Gesamtkorrespondenz des Komponisten Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy 1809-1847 in Form einer digitalen, wissenschaftlich-kritischen Online-Ausgabe. Dear Sir,
Your kindness in dedicating your beautiful Military Duet to me, entails on you the trouble of receiving a letter to thank you for it. It is indeed very good of you to have remembered me and Papa is particularly gratified that you have not forgotten him. I have had the pleasure of playing your duet with Mr Moscheles. The day I received it he and Mrs Moscheles dined with us, and I tried it with him in the evening. We had several friends here, who are very fond of music, and who were delighted with it. But this is small praise to you who are accustomed to the admiration of the whole musical world. I look back, with great pleasure to the time when I heard you play, and I hope some day to have that treat again, when you come to England. My second sister takes lessons in pianoforte playing of Mr Horsley, of whom I also learn singing. My younger sister is to be a pupil of Mr Moscheles – Mamma hopes to have the pleasure of making Mrs Mendelssohn’s acquaintance if she accompanies you to England next year – Papa and Mamma desire then best compliments and I remain, dear Sir, Your truly obliged
