I am instructed by the Directors of the Philharmonic Society to make their best acknowledgements for the valuable information contained in your kind letter, and to say they shall hope for the pleasure of seeing you in London if possible for the two Concerts of the 8th and 22d of April, at one of which they propose your playing and Conducting at the other – They also anticipate a treat from your New Symphony which they trust will be completed by that time. You will please inform Mr David that not supposing a definite answer could arrive soon enough for the first Concert (March 4th) they beg to offer him on Engagement for the Second, on the 18th of that Month – that the usual terms on ten Guinees, but that in all likelehood he would be engaged for more than one night.
They have also to request that you will sent the two overtures by Hiller as soon as you conveniently can, and should Mr Tichatschek the Tenor singer at Dresden contemplate visiting England during the Months of April or May they would wish to know what his terms would be for two Concerts.
I had already written to Mr Spohr concerning his New Symphony, who referred me to Haslinger the publisher at Vienna, whose reply as to when it may be expected, I am in hopes to receive daily.
