            My dear Sir
I hasten to reply to your kind letter of this morning which I am sorry to say has thrown us into some difficulty. We had made our calculations that my last Concert at Leipzig would be the 23th of May 7th of March. From the dates in your letter I find there is a lapse of a fortnight instead, which makes my last appearance with you extend to the 14th of March. The consequence is, I shall be frustrated in my plan of giving a Concert here and after that date it will be too late for me to go to Vienna. The 11th of March is the only day I can have here on account of an Oratorio being about to be given which would oblige the Orchestra to refuse playing for me. If you find it impracticable to fit a Concert for the 28th of Febry, I must of necessity return to Leipzig, and come all the way back again on my way to Vienna. If it can be so arranged, then I can finish my engagement on the 7th of March as I fully intend to return to you from Berlin for the 21th of Febry. I could not now go to Berlin as Thalberg has fixed his Concerts there for the 6, 9 & 12 of Janry. I have also this morning received the answer to my letter to Mr Ganz and he has promised to assist me in every way, and he also says the time I have chosen for my journey thither, is very good. Pray try and arrange this matter for me, and just point out to the directors the necessity of my being free on the 7th of March. I will sing the song from St Paul with great pleasure on the 1st of Janry, but I cannot promise with German qords until I have tried it with you. We hope to be at Leipzic either on Friday or Satr if you should on Mr Kistner give my best compliments and tell him I am much obliged for the letters has far forwarded to me. I will write to him before I leave Dresden.
