London – October 23 – 1838. I have only just returned to London from a very long tour in the provinces, and I hasten to reply to your letter of the 6th – I have safely received the M. S. of the Rondo and have placed it in the hands of one of my best engravers. I cannot thank you sufficiently for the very kind offer you make me of one of your new Quartetts for my Classical Concerts. I shall be most proud of being the first to introduce your truly-beautiful compositions to an English audience and I am sure I need scarcely add, with what zeal and pleasure I will devote my attention to them. You are not aware perhaps that the series consists of six Concerts, therefore I should have ample opportunity of introducing both the Quintetts you make mention of – they commence only in December, therefore I should be glad to receive either one or both as soon as possible, for I shall, of course, make the annunciations of yr writing a Quartett or two for my Concerts, a most attractive feature in the announcements which I intend shortly to put forth. – With respect to the Concertante for the Piano Forte with wind Instrument accompts I should any much like to have it as it appears to me it could be adapted for the Piano, without the accompts and at the same time be published in its original shape. you are no doubt acquainted with the very limited sale, these classical works, meet with in this country, therefore in firming a price for the copyright, I must beg of you not to lose right of this fact. Hoping you are in good health Believe me to be, My dear Sir Yrs very truly N_Mori to Dr Mendelssohn Bartholdy
