From what I see of Eckerberg I am sure we shall get on well together, and when he can make himself understood by the Men of the Band, all will go on better. I like his performance very much.
When I heard he could not speak English. I commenced myself to learn German. my Master, and Eckersberg have commenced a friendship which is very advantageous for him, as he as an Interpreter.
I should be very glad if you could your fondness by sometimes letting me have notice? from new German Musick. Mr Eckersberg could arrange for my Band.
 you may come again visit England and give me an opportunity of so doing. My Regiment marches in a short time for Ipswich near Harwich where we shall most probably be for a year. I hope to have the pleasure of hearing from you there, and any commands for Eckerberg you may have I shall be glad to give them to him he speaks in the highest terms of your kindness to him. I understand Eckersberg hopes before very long to write for his wife and family, their best way to come from Hamburg to London. Ipswich is nearly 67 miles from London –.
