Vienna. Saturday, Decr 9. 1837. Caernthner Straße. No 1005, 4ter Stock. Sir / I received your letter in Meiningen, as also, on my arrival here, aweek ago, your 1st one, for both of what I thank you extremely. I have waited a few days in order to be able better to fix my plans, and am now able to let you know positively when I can be in Leipzig. – I prefer the later date of the two you mentioned in your last, namely the 18th January, and hope it will still suit the views of the Directors. If there has nothing happened to prevent my playing in that day, since I last heard from you, then you need not trouble yourself to write to me again as I shall consider myself engaged, (on the usual terms, ) and will be sure to be in Leipzig the day before the Rehearsal at latest, namely the 16th, on which day I hope to have the pleasure of seeing you. The piece I wish to play is “1st movement of Concerto Violin De Beriot”; it is short, and should you wish a second I could play either “Introduction & Rondo De Beriot”, or “Air with Variations, Blagrove”, indeed I should rather wish to play twice, but that as you please. I desire my last regards to the Novellos; if you wish to communicate with me ma adress is as above till the 29th of this month at least, and after that at Kapellmeisters Reissiger in Dresden, yours ever most obliged Henry. G. Blagrove. The Violinist to Her Maj: the Queen & owner of England. NB. I shall not be able to stay more than three or four days in Leipzig
