Nov the 30th 1837 – 21 Manchester Street Manchester Squ London Dear Sir, I have been anxiously waiting for sometime past, the arrival of the splendid Concerto of yours I am to have the pleasure of playing this Season – I was in hopes from the arrangements made at Birmingham that I should have had possession of it some weeks ago, and my great anxiety to have it as soon as possible, proceeds solely from my wish to do /as far as my little talent will allow/ it every justice, and I believe I need not tell you Sir how impossible it is for an Artiste to practise whilst giving ten lessons a day and such is my case during the Season, already I have five days a week six, and next week I have five other families coming – It was this that made Mr Anderson so anxious I should have the Concerto immediately, neither would he have concluded the engagement he made with Mr Novello had he been aware I could not have had it till so late a period – Under these circumstances and from no wish of being troublesome May I Sir request the favor of your forwarding to me with as little delay as possible your Concerto, that I may endeavour to render myself worthy of the honor of introducing your exquisite work to a Philharmonic Audience – I trust dear Sir it will not be long before we have the pleasure of welcoming you in England and I need not add how much that pleasure would be encreased could we hope you would be accompanied by your charming wife Mr Anderson unites with me in kind regards and trusting to hear from you immediately. Klavierkonzert d-Moll, op. 40 (MWV O 11), in England vor dessen Drucklegung aufzuführen. Der Brief Lucy Andersons zeugt von ihrer Beunruhigung darüber, die Klavierstimme, die sie zum Einstudieren dringend benötigte, noch immer nicht erhalten zu haben. Die Noten trafen erst im Januar 1838 in London ein (vgl. den allgemeinen Kommentar zu Brief Nr. 1763 und Brief Nr. 1821). Die Londoner Erstaufführung mit Lucy Anderson als Solistin fand am 5.
