            Manchester Nov. 8 1837 Dear Felix.
My Band master having gone abroad I am now without one, and reliantly for your assistance in this subject. Perhaps as your friend Mr Novello is now in Germany he would kindly intent himself, and endeavour to procure one in Germany for me. If Mr Novello would undertake this office I should be very much obliged! Knowing the great Interest you continue to take in my Band. I am in hopes your influence with Mr N. may be used in my behalf. –
If will be missing I should give You some insight into the situation.
I should wish the Man to submit, and should then get the rank to a Sergeant, to have his way made up to eight shillings a day. a suitable room in Barracks. and Coals & Candles for said room. He would be dotted when the esteem of the legion in a sustained Manner to the band – will qualificate. In the situation I had slowly say any thing, Mr Novello would of course be kind enough to see, that the Man was an excellent Musician, qualified to arrange for a Jule Brass Band & to lead in both. always to appear in uniform on parade to play with both bands, and intent at the Musicians, both at several practice, and private of required. His busied time having appear in wear and clothes. and when the Band line not required . He would have my promises (upon asking for it) to give further lessons, play at Concerts in any time we may be stationed etc. I am quite persuaded any young Man, send of his profession and anxious to have his Band. Just take, with industrious habits and find the situation of Band Master a most comfortable and hobby one in my Regiment. I forgot to ask on a March have his private Baggage of Mr. Ws carried .
