Schlemmer – Doctor of Law, & Knight of Hesse Cassel in expectation; and the very unlearned student MARothschild Baron of the Roman Empire &c. and assembled in this good town Leipzig, hereby acknowledge the humble petition of Mendelssohn Bartholdy Esqre, and according to the rules of this house can only settle the important and difficult question mentioned in the petition by a conference of this third Estate of the Realm at the hour of noon this day with the petititioner, the said F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy Esqre Given at our House in Reichel’s Garden. M

Der Wohnkomplex erstreckte sich über mehrere Gebäude. »Das lange, zwei Stock hohe Vordergebäude zeigt sich mit einer Fronte von 39 Fenstern« (Gretschel, Leipzig, S. 366 f.). Eine Abbildung der Anlage findet sich in Klein, Almanach, S. 270. Seit seinem Leipziger Engagement wohnte Mendelssohn ebenfalls in dem Häuserkomplex, zunächst bei der Familie Hauser, dann im »Vorderhaus, im Hofe links, eine Treppe hoch, bei Mde.
