It is now more than six years since I last had the pleasure of seeing you, if you recollect the Soirée of Mr Isaac Goldsmid in Russell Square London and for the last four years I have been absent from London, half of which time we have spent in Russia, that is to say my wife (the former Madlle de Belleville) whome I oppose is not unknown to you by reputation & who also allow me say, (althougt I ought not as a husband) that no one after yourself Among all the pianists, has done so much justice to your G. minor Concerto ; (Devine composition) Mme de Belleville-Oury has played it more than twenty times; within the last two years on the greater part of Germany Hungary Prussia and now in Holland with most unbounded success which has induced me to make the present request, hoping as an old acquaintance you will not refuse me the demand and furor I am About to make it to know on what conditions you may be induced to Compose a Concert in a similar form Expressly and dedicated to my wife, that is to say that she may hone the preference of playing it in public six months previous to its being published the profits of which of course will be yourown, all that we ask is that in your Dedication you will say “Composed Expressly for and dedicated to Mdme de Belleville-Oury –” celebre pianiste de Vienne, and also to let me know at your earliest convience, if it will be possible to send us the Score (partition by the beginning of Febuary next, as we expected to be in Paris by that time to pass a couple of months previous to our returne to London for the next season; Consequently my wife would like to make her debut (for the 3d time in Paris) with your M. S. Concerto if possible. I hope you will not think my respects unreasonable seeing that your G. Minor Concerto is dedicated to a person who is now quite left to the Musical world, and we hope please God to travel for two or three years to come I do not think it will disadventagious to your already so great and well merited & unrivaled reputation; Hummel Pixis Franz Lachner and Kalkbrenner have all within the last 18. months promised me to take some kind of obligation, but I esteem your Name and montes susperion to all others living Authors, the dead to except one of who we might say and compone with yourself as Paganini said of DeBeriot, that he began where all the other Violinists left off to you; ; have beguns where Beethoven left
