            Leipzig 28 febr. 1841. My dear Sir
I heard of your absence the day after you left Leipzig, when I sent Walmisley’s music back to you, and was very sorry to find you still absent when I called last week at the hotel de Bavière. I am glad however to see by your letter that you like your new residence; I enclose an introduction for John Schneider whom I am sure you will like very much, but I am sorry I cannot give you a letter to Reissiger as I do not know him so very intimately. You did not give me your adress in Dresden; however I hope you will enquire at the Postoffice some day or other. It is still doubtful whether Beethoven’s mass in D is to be performed at all this year; Bach’s passione is till now fixed for the evening of the 4th April, and as for my English Psalm, I do not know more of the time of its rehearsal than I did before you left Leipzig. I have not heard of Bennett since I returned from England last year; indeed my English friends are bad Correspondents & live in almost as dead a silence, as I do as far as letters go. Excuse therefore the haste of this and believe me my dear Sir very truly yours
