            Leipzig 18 November 1840 My dear Madam,
Allow me also to add a few words of thanks for your kind reception & for the beautiful presents you sent my wife & sisters. I need not tell you how often I think of all the details of my last stay in England which has been to me as it were a most pleasant dream; it was all in such a hurry, such a bustle; then came the journey back with Mr. Moscheles, then his stay in our house, & it was only after his departure that I began to reflect of all that I had seen & experienced in the course of so short a time. – Your unaltered friendship is indeed amongst the brightest recollections; how I wish for the moment when I can introduce my wife to such friends as you are! I really find since I am here, that she is at least a thousand times better than her portrait & so would you, if you knew her. I direct these lines only to you & I do not write to Miss Joanna because I hardly think she would be back in town by this time, may I ask you to tell her, if you next write to her, that I have begun the little drawing of our house which she ordered at Birmingham & whenever it is finished that I shall send it & write immediately. And pray think sometimes of your old friend and yours very truly
