When I had received your very kind letter and become acquainted with your composition, it was my intention not to leave London without having seen you and thanked you in person for the many beautiful things I found in your Score, and for the treat I derived from its persual. But notwithstanding my earnest wish I have not been able to express to you myself how truly delighted I have been, and must now do so in writing, and hope for a better and more quiet time of stay when I shall have the pleasure of making your acquaintance. Accept then my best thanks for your friendly letter as well as for the treat you gave me by sending your score, and I shall feel honoured and higly gratified to see my name on the titlepage of such a work, as this is. Whenever the arrangement is finished will you be so kind as to give a Copy of it to Mr. Novello and desire him to send it to Mess. Breitkopf & Härtel at Leipzig for me, that I may have the opportunity of reading and playing it more at leisure than I could during these days of bustle and business.
