Your kind letter afforded me a great and very sincere pleasure, as it proved that you still think of me with that benevolence and friendship, which you have always shown to me ever since my first stay in your country, and for which I shall feel indebted to you as long as I live. How glad I would have been to accept your invitation and visit once more the house at Coed Du where I passed so many pleasant hours! But to my great regret I am not able to do so, as my engagements call me back to the Continent in a very few days, and hardly allowed me a week in London. The limited time of my stay is also the cause that I could not bring my wifeMendelssohn Bartholdy, Cécile Sophie Charlotte (1817-1853) over with me; to show her this country & to introduce herMendelssohn Bartholdy, Cécile Sophie Charlotte (1817-1853) to the dear and true friends I found in it, is a pleasure which I anticipated in vain, but which I still hope will be realized some day. Pray remember me most kindly to all the members of your family who will still think of me; accept my best wishes for JohnsTaylor, John (1779-1863) future happiness & welfare, and let me hope for an opportunity of expressing to you in person how grateful I shall always feel for all your kindness and how sincerely I am yours
