As for myself, I thought for a time to be able to visit England this spring before the musical festival at Dusseldorf which I am to conduct on Whitsunday & monday – but it has unfortun proved impossible & I must now hope for next year. I am always busy writing & have now many things in my head which shall come out in the course of this year, but they are still so very imperfect & in so confused a state that I cannot even say in what shape they will be; there is a Symphony amongst them but also some other things, which I cannot entitle yet. Is there no probability of your visiting Germany once? I wish so much you would come to the Rhine where I intend staying part of this summer, & which is so short a distance from England.
