Allow me to introduce by these lines my very particular friend Mr. David, who visits England for the first time and as I heartily wish he might derive the same gratification & pleasure from his visit that I always felt in your country I hope you will excuse the liberty I take in adressing him to you. I am most anxious that he should make your acquaintance because I am sure you will not only appreciate his art but also his amiable and unaffected character. He is the leader of our Orchestra & as a composer as well as a player the great favourite of our public & of the connoisseurs. That he may become the same in London is my great wish & as I know now very much you may contribute to his welfare in his public career in England I beg once more to recommend him to you & to ask you to receive him as kindly & with so much friendship as you always have shown to me. I could not say more.
I hope you & your family are as well as I always wish you to be. I and my wife & boy are now thank God again in very good heath after having been teazed a good deal with the measles. But of all this and of everything which concerns me & my family Mr. David will better acquaint you than I could by writing; he comes to my house here almost dayly, is a great friend to my family at Berlin, participates of all our musical and other parties, & will therefore give you the best account of all this. I have only to add that I hope you will kindly excuse the liberty I take & continue to me the same kind and true friend that you have always been.
