You told me in one of your former letters that your sistersNovello, Clara Anastasia (1818-1908) intention was to pass some time on the Continent, and (if I am not mistaken) to visit Germany on her way to Italy, where she intended to take some rest after the fatigues of the last London seasons. When I communicated this to some friends of mine they immediately asked me if there was no chance of hearing her at our ConcertsGewandhausLeipzigDeutschland in Leipzig & of enjoying her talent in a country where as you will know there are still so many lovers of the really good & true in music – & although I answered to all these questions that I was afraid these wishes could not be complied with, as it was for seeking rest that your familyNovello, Familie von → Vincent N. would leave London at that time, still I promised to mention the subject to you, in case there should be the least chance.
