Allow me to introduce you Mr Taubert, from Berlin, a young composer and performer on the Pianoforte, who is universally considered as one of the most distinguished talents of that city. He intends visiting London in order to hear and know all the interesting objects which your town affords to musicians especially, and (if possible) to make himself known to the musical world there. Your acquaintance is of course the most important to him, and he desired me to give him a few lines for you, a favour which I could not decline considering of how great a value your personal acquaintance was always to me in all my musical pursuite in England. I do not know any of Mr Tauberts latest compositions, but the report speaks highly of them, and I hope you will give him an opportunity of showing or playing some of them to you, when you will be the best judge of their merits, whether he will be able to have them performed in your country, the when and where and in short of the course he is to take during his stay. I am to go to Dusseldorf next week, where I shall bring out a new Oratorio of mine at the musical festival. This gives me an immense deal to do, and deprives me of the pleasure of writing more and more at leisure to you. How I wish, that I might see you there! But with the enormous work, you always have to undergo during a London season this is, I fear, out of the question. But perhaps shall I make a short stay of a fortnight in England during the month of time, and how happy I should be of seeing you again I need not say, for you know it.
